This is a great little cat tower/scratcher. For an idea about the height, I am 5'2" and it comes up to about chest height on me at the tallest point. Assembly was fairly easy but be sure to look at the picture closely. Even though I was silly (sometimes I have spatial relations issues with seeing how things fit together, though I am pretty good at putting together "kit" furniture) and mixed up the posts that attach to the scratcher, it was easily undone and put right. Altogether, with the questionable help of two nosey cats, I built this in about 30 minutes.
It is a nice sturdy piece -- the base is fairly heavy and the whole thing feels stable and very solid, not flimsy at all. The S-Shaped scratching area is indeed quite attractive for scratching. The condo is a generous size, at least, my 11-lb kitty finds it a very amiable place to sleep. She is a senior too (15 and a bit arthritic) and has a minimum amount of difficulty getting in and out. I'll start my review by saying that I spent a good month or so shopping around online and in stores for a nice cat tree. I finally stumbled upon this cat tree on Walmart's website and immediately wanted it. However, it was $110 on the website, and so I decided to see if I could find it for a cheaper price. I ended up buying it on amazon.com for $73 (plus tax), and Petco was the seller. The tree was shipped fast, packaged well, very easy to put together, and my cat absolutely loves it. She is a 7-month-old calico and her favorite thing to do is sit at the very top of the wave and pretend that she owns the place! Overall, the tree is very sturdy, the cave is perfect for large cats, and the design and colors make it a perfect addition to almost any home.
