2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the expense, February 23, 2012

In an effort to be more Earth-friendly, I decided to give these receptacles a try. Although they do block the smell better than their plastic counterparts, they have a big drawback: the top part of the receptacle does not stay in the Littermaid when the lid goes up, forcing me to tape it on with masking tape. This is a big pain to deal with every time I change the receptacle (unstick the tape, put a new receptacle in, re-tape the receptacle top into the Littermaid lid, etc.). I won't be buying these again; they are not worth the extra expense. Luckily I only have one cat, so am not changing the receptacles as much as a multi-cat owner would be doing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than the plastic ones, January 18, 2012

While others might purchase these because they're "better for the environment", I wanted them because they're just plain better. They absorb odor, hold up 10X better than the flimsy plastic, and you can handle them without breaking them. My recommendation is to place the cardboard liner in plastic grocery bags. When it is time to empty, just take off the bag containing the waste and toss it out while reusing the liner with a new bag! Easy for you, reusing bags, and much less expensive than buying liners all the time.

The only downside is that the top piece doesn't seem to stay on as well - it may take some fiddling around to get it to stay in place. That's why I give it four out of five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than plastic!, December 1, 2011

These are way better than the plastic ones because you don't need the carbon filter the cardboard that the poop goes in covers up the smell, don't go wasting your money on all that fancy crap, plus you can dump these out and re-use and they still don't smell, I guess you could use those carbon thingies to help it, but I have a really sensitive nose and my cat's butt does not smell very good. These are amazing :) Please take my word for it :)
